Obituary for Betty Rebecca Harrell Morris

Georgetown:
Betty Harrell Morris, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 23, 2019 after a valiant battle with lung cancer.
Betty was born on November 20, 1936, the daughter of the late George Thomas Harrell and Geneva Tanner Harrell. Betty grew up in Hemingway, SC and graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1954. She married her high school sweetheart, Carl, in 1957. She spent her career in Employee Relations and Safety Management at the Container Division of International Paper Company. She retired in 1996 and spent the remainder of her years traveling with her husband and doting on her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by: her beloved husband, Carl L. Morris; sister, Catherine Harrell Etheridge; three sons and one daughter, Richard Morris (Roberta), George Morris and Stephen Morris, Melody Morris Walker (Chris); seven grandchildren, Michael Mosley (Nadia), Alan Mosley (Emily), Megan Morris, Kevin Morris, Lukas Walker, Noah Walker, Pierce Walker, and Eliza Claire Walker; and three great grandchildren, Macie Mosley, Amelia Mosley, and Mary Jane Mosley.
She was predeceased by: her brothers, Thomas Arthur Harrell and Bobby Harrell; and her son, Carl “Kevin” Morris.
She will be remembered best by her love for her family. She was the epitome of a dedicated mother and wife. In her children’s younger years, she could often be found straddling the sidelines of multiple sporting events at the same time. This was also the case with her grandchildren. She seemed to always find a way to be there for everyone, and did it with such ease.
She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Georgetown. She loved to travel and was an avid reader. She was a huge sports fan and enjoyed being a spectator of professional sports as well as little league. In her younger years she played several sports as well to include basketball, golf, and bowling.
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Saturday, October 26, 2019 at First Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ted A. Sherrill. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday in the Church Parlor from 11 until 12.
