Georgetown: Herbert West, Jr., 80, died Saturday, May 12, 2007, in Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mr. West was born in Georgetown Co. on January 31, 1927, a son of the late Herbert West and Hattie Richardson West. He grew up in Georgetown Co. and served in the Navy during World War II. Mr. West was a retired meat cutter and lived in Greenville for many years prior to returning to live in the Sampit community of Georgetown Co. Mr. West was predeceased by: a son, Steven West; and a brother, Clyde West. Survivors include: four sons, Dale West of Goose Creek, Wayne West of Greenville, and Darren West and Herbert West, III, both of Charleston; a sister, Joyce Ann West Mitchell of Mountain Grove, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
