Obituary for Murray Monroe Taylor, Jr.

Columbia:
Murray Monroe Taylor, Jr., 84, formally of Andrews, died Thursday, September 27, 2018, at the home of his companion, Kathy Richardson, in Columbia.
Mr. Taylor was born on October 22, 1933 in Cross, a son of the late Murray Monroe Taylor and Cleo Clark Taylor. He graduated from Cross High School and Williamsburg Technical College. Mr. Taylor retired from the United States Air Force as a Technical Sergeant with over twenty years of service. He was a former Chief of Police for the town of Andrews and also worked with the Kingstree Police Dept.
Mr. Taylor was a member of the Spring Gulley Baptist Church and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a former Captain with the S. C. State Guard. Mr. Taylor was a loving father and grandfather who loved to hunt, fish, and family genealogy.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Taylor was predeceased by: his wife, Betty Lou Wheeler Taylor; a son, Murray Monroe Taylor, III; and a grandson, Richard Allen Taylor, Jr.
Surviving are: four sons, Richard A. Taylor (Tara) of Georgetown, Michael S. Taylor (Tammy), C. A. “Tony” Taylor (Sandy), and Dana O. Taylor (Wendy), all of Andrews; a daughter, Betty “Sissy” M. Taylor (Brian) of Georgetown; three brothers, J. C. Taylor (Amanda) of Andrews, Ronnie Taylor (Edna) of Walterboro, and Wendell Taylor (Judi) of Rock Hill; two sisters, Doretta Martin (Jim) of Parma, OH and Neeley Ellison (Don) of Rock Hill; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be one o’clock Saturday afternoon, September 29, 2018, at Spring Gulley Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Tommy Barnhill. Burial will follow in the Churchyard.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday in the church Fellowship Hall from eleven-thirty until one.
