Obituary

Georgetown, SC: Abram "Abe" Austin Brassington, 80, died peacefully Easter Sunday, surrounded by family, at Tidelands Community Hospice House. Born in Frackville, Pennsylvania, he was the loving husband of Sharon Gascon Brassington and the son of the late Abram and Emma Derr Brassington. A graduate of Bloomsburg College in PA, he was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church of Georgetown and the First Methodist Church of Frackville, PA. Abe was a life time member of the Elks and also a member of the American Legion. Commander Brassington served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Sampson, and in Taiwan, and at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. He was also the Department of Defense liaison for CACI in Arlington, VA. Surviving in addition to his wife of Georgetown are: three daughters, Shellie Price (Douglas) of Summerville, SC, Dorry Keahon (Andrew) of Middleburg, VA, and Megan Llewellyn (Thomas) of Baltimore, MD; two sons, Dr. Bryan Brassington (Lynn) of Richmond, VA and Kevin Brassington of San Clemente, CA; a sister, Marilyn Bane (Dr. Denis) of Orwigsburg, PA; and eleven grandchildren, Matthew Price, Shelby Price, Emma Keahon, Kylee Keahon, Colin Llewellyn, Tyler Llewellyn, Chase Llewellyn, Bryce Llewellyn, Katie Brassington, Lauren Brassington, and Matthew Brassington. He was preceded in death by: a sister, Ruth Moentmann of Lake Tahoe, NV. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Friday, April 1, 2016, at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Dora Gafford. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church sanctuary.
