Obituary

Georgetown: Otis Tompkins, 64, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at Tidelands Community Hospice House. Mr. Tompkins was born in Georgetown Co. on August 15, 1945, a son of the late Sam Albert Tompkins and Lila Goude Tompkins West. He grew up in Georgetown and served with the U.S. Army in Germany. Mr. Tompkins was a commercial fisherman and shrimper for many years and was a Southern Baptist. Mr. Tompkins was predeceased by: a brother, Wayne Tompkins. Surviving are: his wife, JoAnne Goings Morris of Georgetown; two sons, Bradley Tompkins and Chris Morris, both of Georgetown; four sisters, Louise Jordan of Georgetown; Rose Clark Akenhead (Major) of Pine Bluff, Ark., Faye Koon of Apex, N. C., and Phyllis Tompkins (Tommy Pope) of Georgetown; and a brother, Tom Tompkins of Georgetown. Funeral services will be two o'clock Saturday afternoon, October 17, 2009, at Ringel Heights Baptist Church. Officiating will be The Rev. Themos J. Cribb and The Rt. Rev. C. FitzSimons Allison . Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Sign a guest book at www.mayerfuneralhome.com.
