Andrews: Albert Melton Tilton, 79, of Andrews, died Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at MUSC Hospital in Charleston. Funeral services will be held at three o'clock Thursday afternoon, October 4, 2007, at Happy Home Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Thad Jacobs and the Rev. Ronald Deas officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six until eight Wednesday evening, October 3, 2007, at Happy Home Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Tilton was born in Andrews on June 26, 1928, a son of the late Allen Albert Tilton and Ollie Howard Tilton. He attended Happy Home Free Will Baptist Church and was a retired auto body repairman. Mr. Tilton was predeceased by: a grandson, Justin Gamble; and two brothers, John Allen Tilton and Elvis Tilton. Surviving are: His wife, Tula Godwin Tilton of Andrews; two daughters, Sylvia Jordan and her husband Donald and Teressa Gamble and her husband Randy, all of Andrews; three sons, Van Tilton, Dan Tilton and his wife Wanda, and Bruce Tilton and his wife Tammy, all of Andrews; six sisters, Louvenia T. Godwin of Andrews, Mary Alice T. Lee of Albany, Ga., Bernice T. Spruill of New Bern, N.C., Lossie Mae T. Evans of Johnsonville, and Gertie Ann T. Richardson and Sally T. Marsh, both of Florence; a brother, Robbie Tilton of New Bern, N.C.; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two honorary great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
