Andrews: Alice Bacon Geer Mercer, 77, widow of Henry Carlisle Mercer, died Monday, February 23, 2015, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Mercer was born in Durham, N.C. on December 2, 1937, a daughter of the late George Ralphbon Geer, and Martha Virginia Palmer Parsons Geer. She grew up in Kingstree and graduated from Kingstree High School. Mrs. Mercer attended Sophie Newcomb College and graduated from the University of S.C. She taught school at McClellanville High School and Andrews Academy until retirement. Mrs. Mercer was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Surviving are: a daughter, Martha Lynn Mercer Gaskins (Bill) of Andrews; two grandchildren, William and Anna Gaskins; and a brother, George R. Geer, Jr. (Betsey) of McClellanville. Graveside services will be held at three o'clock on Wednesday afternoon, February 25, 2015, at Oak Grove Methodist Church Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Ben Gafford.
