Obituary

Georgetown: Allison Trotter Nation, 59, of Georgetown, SC, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018 surrounded by her family and closest friends. She was born in Columbia, SC, to the late Charlotte Hanna Trotter and Henry Eugene Trotter. She was a graduate of Mary Institute in St. Louis, MO, and Tulane University, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She was a member of The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in The State of South Carolina; a congregant of Prince George Winyah Episcopal Church; and the owner of the Mark Twain Bookstore in Georgetown. Allison was a noted raconteur and lover of wit. She brought laughter to her friends and family throughout her life, even to the end as she bravely battled cancer. Always willing to listen, always ready with advice and words of wisdom, she was loyal, generous, and loving to all. She was a talented and creative artist who loved throwing herself into all manner of artistic pursuits. Beyond her talents and accomplishments, at the fore of her life was a zeal for living and a devotion to her family. She will be forever missed by all who adored her. She is survived by her husband, Charles Owen Nation II, of Georgetown; daughter Hanna Nation Seabrook of Charleston; son-in-law Nelson Edings Seabrook, of Charleston; son Charles Owen Nation, III, of Charleston; daughter-in-law Elizabeth Ward Nation of Charleston; granddaughter Charlotte Eaddy Seabrook; brother Henry Eugene Trotter, Jr, of Columbia; and sister-in-law Mary Canada Trotter, of Columbia, as well as by beloved aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 5, at Prince George Winyah Episcopal Church. The Reverend David Thurlow will officiate. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be sent to Prince George Winyah Episcopal Church, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, or a charity of the donor's choosing.
