Georgetown:
Alyce Parrish Flenniken, 91, widow of Cecil Stephenson Flenniken, died Friday, June 30, 2017 at her residence, after a long illness.
Mrs. Flenniken was born in Georgetown on September 10, 1925, a daughter of the late Joel "Joe" Phillips Parrish and Mary Louise Butt Parrish. She grew up in Georgetown and was a graduate of Winyah High School. Mrs. Flenniken attended Queens College and graduated from Richmond Professional Institute of the College of William and Mary. She became a world traveler with her husband and lived in many places in the world, including Montreal, Canada, for a number of years, prior to returning to Georgetown. Mrs. Flenniken was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and the Lula Ford Circle of the United Methodist Women.
Surviving are: a son, Bruce Phillips Flenniken of Newton, Mass.; a granddaughter, Lia Flenniken of Newton, Mass.; two sisters, Sara P. Barnes of Ft. Pierce, Fla. and Mary Louise "Weezie" Ford (Francis B. "Jeep") of Georgetown; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Thursday morning, July 6, 2017, at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Dora Gafford. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday from ten until ten-forty-five o'clock in the church Fellowship Hall.
