Pawley's Island:
Ann Altman Walker, 88, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at her residence.
Mrs. Walker was born in Williamsburg Co. on May 10, 1916, a daughter of the late William James Altman and Stella A. Altman. She was the former owner and operator of The Carolina Craftsman gift shop and the widow of Johnnie L. Walker.
Mrs. Walker moved to Pawley's Island in the early 1950's, where she and Mr. Walker raised their three children in what they call "The Good Ole Days". She had a zest for life like none other and made the most of each day. She had a way of making everyone feel like they were someone special. She loved her beloved Pawley's Island as well as reading, cooking, and especially her gardening. She was a founding member of the Pawley's Island Presbyterian Church. She will be missed by many.
Surviving are: two sons, Johnnie Walker and his wife Susan of Edisto Island and Larry Walker of Pawley's Island; a daughter, Linda Walker-Smith and her husband Len of N. Myrtle Beach; a brother, Van Altman of New Jersey; six grandchildren, Dodie Hutcheson and her husband Freddie of Savannah, Ga., Kellie Walker of Greenville, Bo Smith of Destin, Fla., Katherine Quickel and her husband Brooks of Palm City, Fla., Scott Smith and his wife Lauren of Lafayette, La., and Briana Walker of Pawley's Island; three great-grandchildren, Lucy Hutcheson and Hank Hutcheson, both of Savannah, Ga. and Hudson Smith of Lafayette, La.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be on Sunday afternoon, June 6, 2004, at five o'clock at the graveside at All Saints Church, Waccamaw, Churchyard. Officiating will be The Rev. Frank S. Holsclaw.
