Obituary

Georgetown: Arlene Wilcox Joseph, 91, widow of Dr. John A. Joseph, Sr., died Monday, June 2, 2014, at her residence. Mrs. Joseph was born in Steele City, Neb. on December 4, 1922, a daughter of the late Chester Wilcox and Beulah Babcock Wilcox. She grew up in Steele City, graduated from Hastings College, and was a school teacher for a time. Mrs. Joseph later moved to Bruning, Neb., where she met her husband while working as a secretary at Bruning Army Airfield. Dr. and Mrs. Joseph were married in 1943 and moved to Georgetown in 1945. Mrs. Joseph was a member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church for 70 years, where she was a choir member for 45 years. Surviving are: three sons, Dr. Thomas C. Joseph (Sharon) of Camden, Dr. John A. Joseph, Jr. (Susan) of Georgetown, and Raad W. Joseph (Daphne) of Columbia; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ronald Wilcox of Oregon. Funeral services will be held at eleven o'clock on Thursday morning, June 5, 2014, at Georgetown Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Stephen H. Wilkins. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. A reception will be held prior to the funeral service on Thursday from nine-thirty until ten-thirty in the Church Fellowship Hall.
