Charleston:
Arnie Lavern "Sleepy" Brinson, 80, died Monday, September 18, 2017, at his daughter's residence in Mr. Pleasant.
Mr. Brinson was born June 24, 1937, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of the late Arnie Elgin Brinson and Sarah Leona Lambert Brinson. He grew up in Georgetown and graduated from Winyah High School where he was a star basketball player. Mr. Brinson fondly remembers his years at Winyah and never missed the class reunions. He enjoyed coaching Little League basketball for many years. He retired from Tempo in Charleston after many years as manager.
In addition to his parents Mr. Brinson was predeceased by; a sister, Mary Sue Barringer.
Surviving are: two daughters, Dawn Michelle Sparks (Hal) of Mt. Pleasant; and Malisa Shada of Pawnee, IL; two sons, Kirk Phillips of Frisco, TX, and Shane Avant (Carrie) of Georgetown; two sisters, Gerry Tolar (Al) of Goose Creek; and Delores "Dee" Brinson Novy of Charleston; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral Services will be two o'clock Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Maryville Pentecostal Holiness Church in Georgetown. Officiating will be the Rev. Sam Rabon. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens Georgetown.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, September 20, 2017, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home from six until eight o'clock.
