Georgetown:
Arthur Prescott Gilman, Jr., 84, died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Gilman was born in Boston, Mass. on May 14, 1928, a son of the late Arthur Prescott Gilman, Sr. and Josephine Fraser Mackenzie Gilman. He graduated from Rutgers University and served in Korea in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Gilman was retired from Rigby Electric. He was a member of All Saints Church and more recently attended Mission Pawleys. He was very active in his church, and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Surviving are: his wife, Nancy Taylor Gilman of Georgetown; two daughters, Gayle Mone (Bob) of West Tisbury, Mass. and Diane Boyd (Alton) of Kingstree; four grandchildren, Jonathan Mone (Joanna), Laura Rowland (Matt), Amy St. John (Clay), and Adam Boyd; one great-grandchild, Emily Claire Rowland; a brother, Roderick Gilman (Carol); and his mother-in-law, Marguerite Boyd Taylor.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Gilman was predeceased by: wife, Catherine W. Gilman; a sister, Roberta Meader; and a grandson, Ryan Prescott Mone.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday morning, March 18, 2013, at All Saint's Church in Pawleys Island. Officiating will be the Rt. Rev. Charles Murphy. Burial will take place prior to the service at All Saint's Cemetery at 10:15 AM.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
