Obituary

Georgetown: Mrs. Arthurleen Hardwick Cannon Alford, 84, widow of William Cole Alford, and Samuel Earl Cannon, died Thursday, August18, 2016, at Vibra Hospital of Charleston, SC. Mrs. Alford was born in Conway on June 26, 1932, a daughter of the late William Arthur Hardwick and Pearl Ester Bellamy Hardwick. Mrs. Alford grew up in Conway and attended Conway High School. She was a member of Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church that she loved. Mrs. Alford had a great love of cooking and sewing. She enjoyed family gatherings. Mrs. Alford was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-mother, and friend. Surviving are: two sons, Jimmy Earl Cannon and Francis Christopher Ackerman; and a former daughter-in-law. Diane H. Wilson; a step-son, William Cole Alford, Jr., and six grand-children; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Eston, Carl, and John Hardwick; and four sisters, Essie Adair, Betty Alford, Joyce Cunningham, and Judy Bishop. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Alford was predeceased by, a son, Wendell Arthur Cannon, a daughter, Shirley Ann Cannon Wilson, two grand-sons, Jimmy "Bubba" Earl Cannon, Jr., and John Harvey Wilson, III; and three brothers. Funeral Services will be Wednesday afternoon, August 24. 2016 at two o'clock at Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Marie Knuckles. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday afternoon, August 24, 2016, at Herbert United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall from one until two o'clock.
