Georgetown:
Bernice "B. G." Griffen Daniels, 78, died Sunday, May 8, 2011, at the Medical University of S. C. in Charleston.
Mrs. Daniels was born in Shaw, Miss. on January 25, 1933, a daughter of the late Grover G. Griffen and Ida Evelyn Crowe Griffen. She grew up in Shaw and moved to Shelby, Miss., where she graduated from high school. After her marriage to Bobby Ferguson in 1951, Mrs. Daniels worked in banking in Rosedale, Miss., retiring as Bank President of The Valley Bank. She moved to Ark. in 1983 and worked with her son at Southern Aire Flying Service. After her second marriage in 2003, Mrs. Daniels moved to Georgetown and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving are: her husband, Lt. Col. Claude Mac Daniels USMC (Ret.) of Georgetown; a son, Stan Ferguson (Sue) of Des Arc, Ark.; two daughters, Leisa Watkins (Ira) of Searcy, Ark. and Renee' Hale (Stacey) of Rosedale, Miss.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three brother, three brothers, John Griffen (Shirley), Doug Griffen (Olean), and Butch Griffen (Diane); a sister, Virginia Hite; two step-daughters, Margaret Padgett (Marion) and Claudia Tollison (Dan); two step-sons, Howard Daniels and Lt. Cmdr. John Daniels (Michelle); four step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be two o'clock Tuesday afternoon, May 10, 2011, at First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service in church sanctuary from one until two. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Brinkley, Ark.
