Andrews:
Betty Mae McGuire Rufus, 81, widow of Rev. Billy Eugene Rufus, passed away Monday, August 15, 2016, at her residence.
Mrs. Rufus was born in Birmingham, AL, on September 2, 1934, a daughter of the late Charles Thomas McGuire and Betty Brazier McGuire. She grew up in Birmingham and graduated High School there and later attended Montreat College of nursing in NC. Mrs. Rufus moved to Washington, DC where she worked for the Federal Government and later met her husband Billy. She also worked many years for the Georgetown County Department of Social Services. Mrs. Rufus was a member of the Andrews Presbyterian Church since 1968 and served as a pastor's wife and member of the Women of the Church. She had a great love for reading. Mrs. Rufus was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Survivors are: two sons, Thomas Rufus (Kim) and Michael Rufus (Sherry) both of Andrews; a daughter, Vicky R. Moree (Lynn) of Andrews; four grandchildren, and a sister Mary Jo Martin of Birmingham, AL.
Funeral Services will be at five-thirty p.m. Wednesday afternoon, August 17, 2016, at Andrews Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. William Clinton Stockton and the Rev. John Black. Burial will following in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon at the church from four until five-thirty p.m.
