Turbeville
January 5, 1930 – February 8, 2023
Georgetown:
Beverly Isaac Turbeville, 93, passed away peacefully February 8, 2023, with her children by her
side. Beverly was born in Georgetown, South Carolina on January 5, 1930, a daughter of the late
Thomas and Catherine Isaac.
Beverly grew up in Georgetown and graduated from Winyah High School in 1947 and St.
Joseph's College, Emmitsburg, Maryland, in 1951 where she enjoyed playing field hockey. She
was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a preschool and kindergarten teacher at
Maryville Elementary School, and volunteered at St. Cyprian Outreach Center. She was an avid
reader and loved discussing books with her friends. Bev also had a true love of history. You
could find her reading biographies, watching historical documentaries, and even googling
information on any history fact that interested her. She was sharp as a tack.
She was married to the love of her life, Walter Raleigh "Red" Turbeville from 1956 until his
death in 2010. She and Walter enjoyed many summers at their beach house, Topsy Turby, in
Pawleys Island, always surrounded by family and friends . In recent years she could be found
reading and enjoying the company of others on the front porch of her home in Georgetown.
Beverly was also a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She
had many friends and was a beloved member of her community. She made everyone who knew
her feel special.
She is survived by her three children Celeste Heller (Scott), Clint Turbeville (Irene), and Glenn
Turbeville; (Jackie), eight grandchildren Kate Jolley (Ben), Jackson Turbeville, Hayden Heller,
Glenn Elisabeth Kunsch (Ryan), Adam Turbeville, Erin Turbeville, Clint Turbeville; and Carol
