Billy Byron McConnell, 86, of Andrews, SC was a beloved father and husband of Patricia Ann Winkler McConnell, passed away on June 25, 2024, at Arbor Landing at Pawleys. Mr. McConnell was born the son of William and Nell Haselden McConnell on April 18, 1938, in Warsaw, SC.

Billy, nicknamed "Sonny" as a child, was survived by his sisters: Betty Wall, Mary Emma Coleman (Billy), Nina Ethridge, Anna Grace Waddell (Rusty), and sister-in-law, Sonya McConnell. His predeceased siblings were Thomas McConnell, Maude Ellen McConnell, David McConnell, and brother-in-law, Norman Wall and W.B. Ethridge.

Billy and Pat were blessed with four amazing children, including their surviving daughters, Cindy McConnell Buck (John) of Pawleys Island and Bobbi Jo Davis (Tony) of Andrews, a son, Scott McConnell (Joyce) of Florence, and predeceased daughter, Cheryl McConnell Matthews. Surviving grandchildren were Kerrie Stillinger (Thurston), Jamie Matthews (Lesley), Courtney Griffin, Dalt Todd (April), Rae Jordan (Jarrod), Brandon Davis (Joana), Tiffany Cooper (Isiah), Olivia McConnell and one honorary grandchild, Kadyn Kellahan, twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Billy was a Williamsburg High School graduate who enlisted and served as a fireman in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1962 in Homestead, FL. He went on to retire from the International Paper Company after more than 45 years of employment. Billy "Sonny" enjoyed life's simple pleasures such as fishing, camping, and various sporting activities with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed bird hunting and fishing on the Santee and Cooper rivers. Sonny had a passion for working on cars that started with his brother David and eventually led him the opportunity to proudly pass down these mechanic skills to his son and grandchildren. Sonny was also a devoted fan of the Clemson Tigers, NASCAR racing, and classic country music.
