Pawleys Island:
Bobby Benjie Cox, 76, husband of Geraldine "Gere" Douthit Cox, passed away, September 4, 2019, at his residence in Pawleys Island.
Mr. Cox was born in the Warsaw Community of Williamsburg County on September 21, 1942, a son of the late Willie Benjamin Cox and Lizzie Alford Cox. He grew up in Andrews and graduated from Williamsburg High School. Mr. Cox worked for M & T Chemicals in Andrews and Carrollton, KY for many years. He was a self-employed licensed Maintenance Contractor serving the DeBordieu Colony. Benjie loved NASCAR racing and was a fan of USC Gamecock football. He loved his wife Gere and children, but the grandchildren were his Heartstrings and made his face light up when they came to visiting.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cox is predeceased by: two brothers, Earl Bethel Cox and Danny Cox.
Surviving are: his wife of Pawleys Island, two sons, Ben Cox (Angela) of Andrews, Bobby "BB" Cox of Georgetown; a daughter, Brooke Cox Poirel (Chris) of Baltimore, MD; seven grandchildren, Abby and Annabele Cox, Chase and Zack Marshall, Reagan and Reese Cox, and Topher Poirel; three brothers, Ronnie Cox of Andrews, Elbert Cox (Diane) of Pawleys Island, and E.W. Cox (Tiarra)of Andrews; two sisters, Connie Jo Cox Lambert (Larry) of Andrews and Shirley Cox Strickland (Geniar) of Georgetown.
Funeral Services will be two o'clock Sunday afternoon, September 8, 2019, at Happy Home Original Freewill Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Marty Cox and the Rev. Dr. Ted Sherrill. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home from five until seven o'clock.
