Georgetown: Brenda Barton Grimes, 63, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at Tidelands Community Hospice House. Mrs. Grimes was born in Fayetteville, N. C. on October 19, 1946, a daughter of the late James Edgar Barton and Mary Williams Barton. She was a graduate of Dreher High School in Columbia and The University of South Carolina Aiken School of Nursing. Mrs. Grimes was a retired Registered Nurse and an active member of First Assembly of God. She moved to Georgetown in 1989 from Marion. Surviving are her husband, John H. Grimes of Georgetown; a son, Ryan B. Brown (Michelle) of Columbia; three daughters, Ali De La Cruz (Jose) and Melanie Da Vega (Mike), both of Columbia, and Cathy G. Frye of Lumberton, N.C.; a sister, Linda Headley (Frank) of Columbia; thirteen grandchildren, three nephews and many great nieces and nephews. The family wishes to acknowledge her many friends in Georgetown and the special ladies of the Women's Ministries of First Assembly of God. Memorial services will be private.
