IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brenda Hinely

April 4, 1941 – December 1, 2023
Brenda Hinely Tanner, 82, passed away surrounded by her family, on December 1, 2023. Brenda was born on April 4, 1941 in Savannah, GA., daughter of Robert F. and Bertha Hinely. After graduating from Savannah High School, she attended Sullins College in Bristol, VA, studying art. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Hal, and moved to Auburn, AL, supporting him through obtaining an Engineering degree at Auburn University. She continued to be a supportive, loving, and devoted wife and mother, raising their family, in several states, wherever Hal's career took them.
She was a talented artist, preferring pencils, pastels, and watercolors. Her passion in life, outside of her family, was cooking and entertaining. She loved taking cooking classes and learning new techniques. She enjoyed hosting family and friends throughout the years, welcoming all with love, comfort, and of course excellent food. She also had a passion for reading and travel. She traveled all over the world with family and friends, her favorite spot being St Thomas, USVI.
She was a cherished member of Duncan Memorial UMC, where she found a welcoming community and created an extended family. She was also involved with the Supper Club, where she had many close friends. She will be forever missed.
She is survived in love and memory by her husband of 61 years, Hal, her son, Greg Tanner, of Decatur, GA, her daughter, Allison and son-in-law Matt Kuhn, of Cumming, GA, her sister Barbara, and husband Don Nason of Dawsonville, GA, her brother Robert Hinely and wife Molly of Newnan, GA, grandchildren Will and Duncan Tanner, and Keller and Hayden Kuhn, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
