Mt. Pleasant:
C. Lloyd Bruorton, 88, died Monday, September 11, 2006, at Oakdale Heights of Mt. Pleasant.
Mr. Bruorton was born in Georgetown Co. on November 12, 1917, a son of the late James Atkinson Bruorton and Nellie Lillian Baxley Bruorton. He grew up in the Good Hope section of Georgetown Co. and was a graduate of Union High School. Mr. Bruorton served with the S.C. Army National Guard from Georgetown during WWII. In June of 1977, he retired as a Deputy Sheriff from the Georgetown Co. Sheriff's Office after 17 years of service. Mr. Bruorton was a member of Winyah Lodge #40, Ancient Free Masons and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 6444. He was also a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, the Francis Asbury Church Class, and the United Methodist Men.
Surviving are: his wife, Mary Burton Chandler Bruorton of Georgetown; two sons, Charles B. Bruorton and Benjamin A. Bruorton, both of Columbia; a daughter, Marie B. Isaac of Mt. Pleasant; a brother, James A. Bruorton, Jr. of Conway; a sister, Marguerite B. Tindall of Georgetown, and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be two o'clock Wednesday afternoon, September 13, 2006, at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Phillip C. Thrailkill. Burial will follow in Union United Methodist Cemetery.
