Obituary

Camelia "Anne" Scott, 65, wife of Robert Charles Scott, passed away at her home in Georgetown, SC, on July 24, 2025.

Born April 13, 1960, in Tryon, NC, she was the daughter of the late Reverend Robert Joseph Howell, Sr. and the late Doris Jean O'Dell Howell. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother, Steven Howell.

When the Howell family moved from Tryon, they settled in Beaufort—a place that held a special place in Anne's heart. She fondly remembered the seasons she spent playing basketball and cheerleading. She cherished her years there and took great pride in serving the Beaufort Water Festival as a goodwill ambassador for the Pirettes, a role she embraced with joy and enthusiasm.

After leaving Beaufort during her junior year of high school, Anne made Georgetown her home. It was there that she met the love of her life, beginning a 45-year marriage that stands as a true testament to love and devotion. Together, they built a joyful life, raising three children and later welcoming eight cherished grandchildren into their loving home. Anne was known for her bubbly personality and caring, generous heart. She never met a stranger.

Anne devoted her life to raising her children and creating a loving, welcoming home. She cherished her time on the field—coaching softball and cheering from the sidelines—as she supported her children in all their pursuits. With her big heart and easygoing spirit, her home quickly became a favorite gathering place for their friends. Known affectionately as the "cool mom," Anne wore that title with pride—but she never hesitated to keep everyone in line when needed, always striking the perfect balance between fun and firm.

Anne was a devoted member of Duncan Memorial Methodist Church for 49 years—a journey of faith that began when her father became the church's pastor in 1976. Her deep commitment was evident through her generous spirit and unwavering willingness to serve. Always quick to help those in need, Anne was someone others could count on. She never hesitated to speak up for what mattered, guided by both conviction and compassion.

When she wasn't caring for her family or serving others, Anne made time for the pursuits she loved. She could often be found tending her garden, where her green thumb coaxed both vibrant flowers and bountiful vegetables from the earth. On quiet days, she would slip away to fish—another cherished pastime that offered her peaceful moments of reflection.

Anne is survived by her husband and their children: Katherine "Katie" Scott Egger (Paul), Robert "Charles" Scott, Jr. (Ashley), and Caroline Howell Scott. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Madison Egger, Riley Egger, Sawyer Scott, Collette Scott, Blaine Scott, Ryder Scott, Parker Sanders, and Cooper Sanders. In addition, she leaves behind two brothers, Robert Joseph Howell, Jr. and Timothy Howell, several nieces and cherished family members who were like sisters to her, as well as her special friend, Mrs. Debbie Kaufman.

Those she leaves behind will forever remember Anne as someone who lit up every room she entered. Her warmth, presence, and love left an indelible mark on their hearts. Their lives are forever changed by the profound loss of such a remarkable woman.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Duncan Memorial Methodist Church. The family will receive visitors in the parlor one hour prior.
