Andrews: Candace "Candy" Marie Hinson Laney, 67, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Candy was born on August 1, 1953, at McLeod Hospital in Florence, SC, the daughter of the late Rev. G.E. Hinson and Marie Haselden Hinson. She was a lifelong member of Andrews First Baptist Church. Candy was a 1971 graduate of Andrews High School where she played basketball and was a member of both the marching and concert bands. Candy loved children and worked as a kindergarten assistant teacher at Andrews Christian School, an assistant teacher in the math lab at Andrews High School, and the director of Centerville Day Care Center in Centerville, VA. She also loved animals and recued more than 100 cats and dogs. Surviving are: a daughter, Tonya (Yvette) Lantz; a son Kyle Oyler; a beloved granddaughter, Hailey Oyler; a sister, Pennie (Gerald) Payne and a nephew, Bert (Dawn) Lambert.
