Andrews:
Carlisle O'Quinn Cox, 74, died Thursday, September 23, 2010, at his residence.
Mr. Cox was born in Andrews on December 7, 1935, a son of the late Thomas Alton Cox and Mary Effie Wheeler Cox. He was a man of few words who loved the Lord and loved attending church services. Mr. Cox also loved the beauty of the outdoors, but in his final days, he was ready to leave the beauty of earth and looked forward to the splendor of Heaven. He was a member of the Ed Hinson Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church and attended worship services at Trinity United Methodist Church, always supporting his wife in her musical endeavors, as well as sharing his own gift of song. Southern Gospel was his style of music, collecting thousands of albums, listening to them daily by the hours. Camping in his RV was his style of recreation, always settling at Ocean Lakes Campground and looking forward to auctions every Saturday night, until declining health.
Surviving are: his wife, Roberta Mixon Cox of Andrews; a son, Robert O'Quinn Cox of N. Charleston; a brother, Alton Cox, Jr. (Helen) of Andrews; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at three o'clock on Sunday afternoon, September 26, 2010, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. David Marcy, the Rev. Billy Miles and the Rev. Sandra Stevens Poirel. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery.
