Georgetown Carol Jean Caines Payton, 78, widow of Daniel "Tiny" Lonnie Payton, died Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Payton was born in Georgetown on March 12, 1941, a daughter of Joseph Hucks Caines, Jr. and Jeannie Veona Rourk Caines. She grew up and lived all of her life in Georgetown County. Mrs. Payton attended Andrews Church of God and was a dedicated prayer warrior. She loved flowers and gardening. Surviving are: three daughters, Trina Hewitt, Tracey Payton, and Teresa Payton, all of Georgetown; three brothers, Harrell B. Caines of Goose Creek, Jerry W. Caines and Roy B. Caines, both of Georgetown; a sister, Patricia C. Holmes of Georgetown; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon, September 19, 2019, at two o'clock in the Andrews Church of God. Officiating will be Pastor Matt Suttle. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery Annex in Georgetown. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday prior to the funeral from one until two.
