IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carole
Sippel
December 21, 1938 – January 14, 2026
Pawleys Island
Carole Joy Sippel, 87, died on January 14, 2026, at her home in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.
Born on December 21, 1938, in South Orange, New Jersey, Carole was the daughter of Michael and Laura Boberick. Carole grew up in Newark, New Jersey where she attended catholic school. In her early 20's Carole booked a cruise out of New York City to the Caribbean. On the last night of the cruise she met her future husband, Robert Theodore Sippel. They always referred to this ship as the "Love Boat." In the early 1960's, after a honeymoon to Bermuda, Carole and Bob made their home in Canaan, New York, where Bob was stationed as a New York State Trooper. Carole and Bob bought and completely renovated a beautiful 19th century colonial home on 60 acres just minutes from the Berkshires. Carole was a wonderful homemaker and gourmet cook who hosted extended family for the holidays. Her ambition and persuasion were the driving force behind Carole and Bob purchasing a hotel in the South. In 1976, Carole and Bob packed up their family and moved to Georgetown, South Carolina. Carole always wanted to live near the ocean, so shortly after moving to South Carolina they purchased their home on the creek in Litchfield Beach. Carole continued her tradition of hosting holidays and opening her home to family, neighbors, and friends. Bob always said, "in this house, we eat well!" In Litchfield Beach, Carole and Bob made a truly wonderful life for themselves and their three daughters Stacey, Allison, and Nancy. Carole and Bob loved to travel and visited many countries and states across the U.S. A lover of history, Carole later traveled to Russia with her daughter. Carole's biggest pride and joy was her only grandson, Benjamin William Theodore Nauss. She also had a special relationship with her only nephew, Walter Taylor, who visited Aunt Carole and Uncle Bob every year since 1976.
Carole was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert Theodore Sippel, her parents Michael and Laura Boberick, sisters Nancy Taylor and Mary Milenz, and brothers Andrew Boberick and Michael Boberick and brother-in-law Walt Taylor.
Carole will be remembered and dearly missed by her daughters Stacey Sippel, Allison Sippel Peteet (Hugh) and Nancy Lee Sippel, grandson Benjamin Nauss, nephew Walter Taylor (Camy), nieces Kathy Dwyer and Christy Rector (Brian), sister-in-law Ellen Dwyer, and many great-nieces and nephews.
Carole's immediate family wants to give a special thank you to the Hospice caregivers with Amedisys of Georgetown who were wonderful and caring.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Baskervill Food Pantry, 99 Baskervill Drive, Pawleys Island, SC 29585.
