Carolyn Norton McCants, 84, wife of Russell Everett McCants died on October 3 at her daughter's home. Mrs. McCants was born in Georgetown County on February 1, 1938, the daughter of the late James Otis Norton and Annie Lee Guerry Norton.
She was a graduate of Andrews High School and was employed for many years at Wildes Furniture store. She enjoyed working in the yard and taking care of her flowers. She was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Sunday School class of C.C. Garris and Daisy Watson. She served on various committees until her health declined. Mrs. McCants was a wonderful and devoted wife, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She was predeceased by her parents. Surviving are one daughter, Ann M. Newton (Mark), of Andrews, a son, Jimmy McCants (Sue), of Andrews, four grandchildren, Brian Newton of Goose Creek, Mindy Foster (Stan) of Georgetown, Michael McCants (Brittany) of Birmingham, AL, Travis McCants (Megan) of Alexander City, AL, six great grandchildren, Layton and Loftyn McCants, Cooper and Emma Cole McCants, Eden and Sarah Foster; a sister, Bonnie Corbin of Pinopolis, and three sisters-in law, Brenda Wildes, Margie McCants, and Verma Dean, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be at eleven o'clock Thursday morning, October 6th, 2022, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff Roper and the Rev. Dr. Ben Gafford; burial will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
The family would also like to give a special thank you to the nurses and doctors of Amedisys Hospice and Tidelands Georgetown Hospital for their devotion and outstanding care during her illness.
