Georgetown;
Carolyn Gray Richards, 90, widow of Leonard Kay Richards, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2014.
Born on October 20, 1923, in Black Mountain, NC, she was a daughter of the late William Winston Gray and Carrie O'Neal Gray. Mrs. Richards was a member of Saint Mary, Our Lady of Ransom, Catholic Church. She served in the U. S. Navy as a WAVE during W.W. II.
Survivors include three children, Martha R. Upfield (Brad) of Merry Hill, NC, Robin R. Winn (Virgil) of Pawleys Island, and Janet R. Johnson (Mark) of Georgetown. She was a loving grandmother (Bip Bop) to her seven grandchildren, John Heinemann (Jennifer) of Mt. Pleasant, Rebecca Lewis (Brian) of Summerville, Halsey Blevins (Jared) of Johns Island, Rob Upfield of Merry Hill, NC, Seth Johnson of Charleston, Reed Winn of Pawleys Island, and Maggie Johnson of Charleston; six great-grandchildren, Gray Lewis, Sarah Gray Heinemann, Claire Heinemann, Hattie Lewis, Perry Blevins, and Jace Heinemann; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Perrin Richards; and five brothers, Blaine, Earl, Harry, Kermit and Walter Gray.
A graveside service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens with Father Ron Farrell officiating.
