Mt. Pleasant:
Carson Watts, 92, a former resident of Andrews, died Tuesday, March 6, 2007, in Mt. Pleasant.
Mr. Watts was born in Ellamore, W. Va. on February 7, 1915, a son of the late Zeno Varner Watts and Bertha L. Talbot Watts. He grew up in Ellamore and graduated from High School in Charleston, W. Va. Mr. Watts moved to South Carolina in 1948 and Andrews in the 1950's. In Andrews, he worked with Beal Lumber Co. until it closed and later with McDaniel's Industries. Mr. Watts was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Harper's Lodge #225, Ancient Freemasons. He was the widower of Evelyn Hinkle Watts and Margaret Haselden Tisdale Watts.
Surviving are: a daughter, Audrey Watts Brown of Mt. Pleasant; four granddaughters, Karin B. Shaffer of Mt. Pleasant, Linda B. Kacala of Charleston, Rosemary B. Harker of Virginia Beach, Va., and Gretchen B. Aurin of Middletown, Conn.; five great-grandchildren, Frank Harker, Patrick Carson Harker, Cassidy Shaffer, Walter Shaffer, and McGuire Shaffer; three brothers, Raymond Watts of Cary, N. C., Charles Watts of Buckhannon, W. Va., and John Sheahan of St. Augustine, Fla.; and a sister, Kathryn Osborn of Warren, Oh.
Funeral services will be two o'clock Friday afternoon, March 9, 2007, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Andrews. Officiating will be the Rev. Sandra Stevens Poirel. Burial will follow with Masonic rites at the graveside in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
