St. Stephen: Cecil U. Parker, 78, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Tidelands Community Hospice House. Mr. Parker was born in the Witherbee Community of Berkeley County on December 30, 1931, a son of the late James M. Parker and Walton Brandon Parker. He served in the Navy on the SS Smiley during the Korean Conflict. After returning home, he worked until retirement with International Paper Company in Georgetown. Surviving are: a daughter, Cecilia Capps (Avon) of McClellanville; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Parker was predeceased by his sons, Mickey and Jonathan. He was greatly loved and will be missed by his family. Memorial services will be on Saturday morning, March 13, 2010, at ten o'clock at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
