Obituary

Georgetown: Charles F. Ormsbee, Jr., 71, formerly of Belmar, NJ, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at his residence. Mr. Ormsbee was a graduate of Manasquan High School, class of '57, where he served as president of the class. He played on the school football team until he and two other team members contracted polio. Mr. Ormsbee went on to graduate from Rider College with a BS in business administration. He went to work for Mr. Maurice Holtzman at the Belmar/Wall Shop-rite. In 1967 he opened his own business on 18th Avenue in Wall Township, NJ. Later he moved the business to Belmar Blvd., Wall. Mr. Ormsbee served two terms on the Wall Township Board of Education and one term on the Wall Township Committee. He was a charter member of the Wall Rotary Club and the Monmounth County Board of Health. He also enjoyed being a coach for boys and girls soccer teams. After nearly ten years in the retail business, his career took a different direction, when he became employed by the Borough of Belmar as the deputy Borough Clerk and a few years later as the Boro Clerk, Tax Collector, Chief Financial Officer, Municipal Treasurer and Director of Finance. He retired in 1996. Mr. Ormsbee is predeceased by his father, Charles F. Ormsbee, Sr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Peggy; their three wonderful children, Steven and his three children: Heather, Cody and Ricky; Sharon and her two children: John Michael and Juliana; Debbie and her three children: Christian, Shaun and Serra. He is also survived by his mother, Elizabeth Ormsbee, his sister, Janet and her husband Bruce Barber and their three children; his brother Bob and his wife Diane Ormsbee and their two children. Memorial services will be ten o'clock Friday morning, January 29, 2010, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. Ron Lewis.
