Georgetown:
Charlie Rothie Russ, 91, died Friday, December 2, 2011, at Waccamaw Community Hospital.
Mr. Russ was born in the Pleasant Hill community of Georgetown Co. on September 10, 1920, a son of the late James Furman Russ and Lila Pauline Goude Russ. He lived in Georgetown all of his life and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Russ retired after 40 years of employment with International Paper Company. He was a member of Screven Baptist Church.
Surviving are: four sons, Charles Edward Russ (Linda) of Georgetown, David Arthur Russ (Georgia) of Macedonia, and Ricky Russ (Annette) of Alvin, and Shawn Russ (Terry) of Georgetown; one daughter, Tabitha H. Russ of Georgetown; two brothers, Ned H. Russ (Evelyn) of Hawkinsville, Ga. and Caulzine Russ (Paula) of Texas; two sisters, Leta Mae Parker of Coco Beach, Fla. and Noval Fildes of Merritt Island, Fla.; a number of nieces and nephews; 14 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Russ was predeceased by his first wife, the love of his life and soul mate, Chloe Elizabeth Rushton Russ.
Funeral services will be at two o'clock on Monday afternoon, December 5, 2011, at Screven Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Jason Williams, the Rev. Ned Russ, and Fletcher Carter. Entombment will follow at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon, December 4, 2011, from three until five o'clock.
