Columbia: Cheryl Lynn McConnell Matthews, 58, returned to her Heavenly Home on September 20, 2019. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her through a difficult struggle with her health for many years and ultimately provided her peace. A graveside service for Cheryl will be two o'clock Sunday afternoon, September 29, 2019 in Andrews Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Becky Tilton, officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the home of Bobbi Davis, 72 Sandpiper Rd., Andrews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Cheryl's memory to: Dabo's All In Team Foundation, PO Box 1585, Clemson, SC 29633, Attn: Beth Douglas Cheryl was born August 4, 1961 at Homestead Air Force Base. She was the daughter of Billy "Sonny" McConnell and Patricia "Pat" Winkler McConnell. She was a 1979 graduate of Andrews High School. Cheryl was a wonderful and loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren affectionately called her Mimi. She had a love for animals, especially her dog, Oscar. Everyone who knew her knew that she was passionate for her Clemson Tigers. Survivors include; her parents, Sonny and Pat McConnell of Andrews; her three children, Kerrie Stillinger (Thurston) of Williston; a son, Jamie Lee Matthews ( Lesley) of Columbia and Courtney Griffin (John) of Williston; her grandchildren, Will, Brantley, and Paylen Stillinger, Jay, Drew, and Ansley Matthews, Havyn, and Jocelyn Jones, and Piper Griffin; her siblings, Cindy Buck (John), Bobbi Davis (Tony), and Scott McConnell (Joyce) and a number of nieces and nephews.
