Georgetown: Clara Jordan Hamlin, 76, widow of Bernard Terrell Hamlin, died Monday, September 5, 2011, at Kingston Nursing Center in Conway. Mrs. Hamlin was born on January 24, 1935 in the Center community of Georgetown Co., a daughter of the late Alex Jordan and Margaret Miller Jordan. Mrs. Hamlin was an owner of Hamlin Enterprises. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was the kitchen manager for the club at the Georgetown County Fair for thirty-eight years. Mrs. Hamlin was a member of First Assembly of God and helped keep the Nursery at First Baptist Church of Georgetown for twenty-one years. Surviving are: five daughters, Theresa Owens (David) of Chapin, Joetta Martin (Bosco) and Georgia Vinson (Rodger), both of Georgetown, Alice Cribb (Ray) of Hemingway, and Clara Hamlin and her companion Randal Kirby both of Jackson, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Kimberly Martin (Donnie) of Irmo, David H. Owens of Columbia, Ashley and Alex Cribb, both of Hemingway, and Leslie Carl (Allen) of Georgetown; four great-grandchildren, Kensley and Bryson Martin, and John Allen and Kathaleen Carl; a brother, John Jordan (Wendy); two sisters, Nancy Wright (Wilmont) and Laney Jordan; two sisters-in-law, Clara Belle Jordan and Naomie Jordan; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hamlin was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Jimmy Jordan. Funeral services will be at five o'clock on Wednesday afternoon, September 7, 2011, at First Assembly of God. Officiating will be the Rev. Dave Hoskin and the Rev. Thom Avison. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery Annex. The family will receive friends on Wednesday prior to the service at First Assembly of God from three until five o'clock.
