Georgetown: Clara Douglass DuRant Moore, 91, died Tuesday, October 7, 2008 in Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Moore was born November 3, 1916 in Clarendon Co. on November 3, 1916, a daughter of the late John and Melle Durant. She was a graduate of Manning High School and the University of S. C. with a Masters in Education. She taught in the Georgetown Co. Schools for a number of years. Mrs. Moore was the widow of Jim Turner Moore. Mrs. Moore was a member of Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women, and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was also a former Girl Scout leader. Mrs. Moore was a member of the Magna Carta Dames and the Order of the Crown. Surviving are: two daughters, Lucy Monahan and her husband Tim of Madison, Ga. and Melanie Tanner and her husband Ronny of Beaufort; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be ten o'clock Friday morning, October 10, 2008, in Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Frank S. Holsclaw.
