Georgetown:
Clara Douglass DuRant Moore, 91, died Tuesday, October 7, 2008 in Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Moore was born November 3, 1916 in Clarendon Co. on November 3, 1916, a daughter of the late John and Melle Durant. She was a graduate of Manning High School and the University of S. C. with a Masters in Education. She taught in the Georgetown Co. Schools for a number of years. Mrs. Moore was the widow of Jim Turner Moore.
Mrs. Moore was a member of Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women, and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was also a former Girl Scout leader. Mrs. Moore was a member of the Magna Carta Dames and the Order of the Crown.
Surviving are: two daughters, Lucy Monahan and her husband Tim of Madison, Ga. and Melanie Tanner and her husband Ronny of Beaufort; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be ten o'clock Friday morning, October 10, 2008, in Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Frank S. Holsclaw. Burial will follow at two o'clock in DuRant Cemetery in Clarendon Co.
