Georgetown:
Claude Carroll Robbins, 92, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Mr. Robbins was born in Rutherford County, N.C. on November 7, 1919, a son of the late Lawrence Bookter Robbins and Mary Etta Carroll Robbins. He grew up in N.C. and served as a U.S. Naval aviator in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Mr. Robbins married his wife Ethel in 1945 and graduated from Wofford College. He was a former Mayor of Columbus, N.C. and an active member of Columbus First Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon.
Mr. Robbins later moved to Aiken with his family, where he lived for 50 years and worked as a chemical engineer for the Savannah River Plant. While in Aiken, he was an active member of Aiken First Baptist Church. Mr. Robbins moved to Georgetown eight years ago, and has since become a member of First Baptist Church of Georgetown. He loved sailing, gardening, and wood working, and was very dedicated to his family.
Surviving are: his wife, Ethel Alverson Robbins of Georgetown; a son, Claude Carroll Robbins, II of Smyrna, Tenn.; three daughters, Teresa R. Hobbs of Pawleys Island, Karen R. Murphy of Shelby, N.C., and Gail R. Hendriks (Michael) of Georgetown; five grandchildren, Charles Edward Robbins (Reneé), Jonathan K. Hobbs (Maureen), and Lydia, Ian, and Noah Hendriks; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Carroll Robbins of Spartanburg.

Graveside services will be at eleven o'clock on Saturday morning, July 14, 2012, at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ted A. Sherrill.
