Georgetown:
Cleona Hardee Gore, widow of Elbert Jennings Gore, Jr., entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 28, at the Lexington Medical Center.
Mrs. Gore was born in Horry County on March 9, 1930, a daughter of the late Grover Wilson Hardee and Florence Anderson Hardee. She was an honor graduate (Salutatorian) of Loris High School, a charter member of Lakewood Baptist Church in Georgetown and a current member of Georgetown First Baptist Church, where she was an active member for most of her adult life. She served in numerous capacities in both churches. She was retired from the Liberty Life Insurance Company. A previous volunteer at the Georgetown Memorial Hospital, she was also a former member of the Hospital Auxiliary.
Surviving are: a son and daughter in law, Steve and Terrisa Gore of Lexington; daughter and son in law, Cindy and Walter Sanders of Barnwell; brother and sister in law, Henry and Janet Hardee of Shalotte, NC; five grandchildren, Jessica and Lindsay Gore, Haze and Hardee Sanders, and Tiffany Eckel; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gore was predeceased my five brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Georgetown on Sunday, May 1, at 3 PM. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ted A. Sherrill. Private entombment will be at the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service in the church parlor.
