Georgetown:
Clifton Wayne Morris, Sr., 63, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Morris was born in Charleston on June 7, 1945, a son of the late Edgar Clifton Morris and Vivian Thompson Morris. He grew up in Georgetown and was a graduate of Andrews High School and received an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. Mr. Morris served as a police officer for a number of years. He was a former chief of police for the Town of Andrews and also an assistant chief of police for the City of Georgetown. Mr. Morris retired as an agent with Liberty Life Insurance Co. in 2006.
Mr. Morris was an active member of Sampit United Methodist Church. He served his church as a lay speaker, music director, member of numerous committees, and as a member of the Administrative Board. Mr. Morris was a past President of the Georgetown Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
Surviving are: his wife, Gloria Bonbicino Morris of Georgetown; a son, C. Wayne Morris, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Georgetown; two daughters, Donna M. Terry and Melissa M. Goude and her husband Chris, all of Georgetown; four brothers, Glen Morris and Don Morris, both of Georgetown, Dr. Richard Morris of Winter Park, Fla., and Randy Morris of Lexington; and three grandchildren, Amanda Terry, Ron Terry, Jr., and Brice Morris, all of Georgetown.
Funeral services will be eleven o'clock, Friday morning, July 4, 2008, at Sampit United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert L. Eubanks and the Rev. Franklin Lowrimore. Burial will follow in Sampit United Methodist Cemetery.
