Obituary

Georgetown: Clyde Jacobs Ard, 81, died Sunday, November 2, 2003, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Ard was born in Georgetown on October 14, 1922, a daughter of the late Daniel Theodore Jacobs and Carrie Rebecca Forbes Jacobs. She attended old Oak Grove School in Georgetown County. Mrs. Ard retired in 1983 from American Tobacco Co. in Charleston. After her retirement, she operated a kindergarten in Charleston for a time prior to moving back to Georgetown in 1986. Surviving are: two brothers, Lee R. Jacobs of Georgetown and Loris R. Jacobs of Scottsboro, Ala.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ard was predeceased by: her husband, James Douglas Ard, Sr.; and two sons, James D. Ard, Jr. and Earl Ard. Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Wednesday morning, November 5, 2003, at North Hampton Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. H. Jack Mobley. Burial will follow at one o'clock in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens in Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home from six until eight o'clock, Tuesday evening, November 4, 2003.
