IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Connie Mason
Smith
November 11, 1941 – December 24, 2023
Georgetown
Connie Mason Smith, of Georgetown, passed away on Sunday, December 24th, surrounded by her family at her residence in Belle Isle. She was born November 11, 1941, in Hamlin, West Virginia, the daughter of Clarence Charles Mason and Mable Smith Mason.
Connie was proudly raised in the mountains of West Virginia, and upon graduating high school left home to become a clerk typist for the FBI in Washington, D.C. While there she met the love of her life, Joe Deal Smith, Jr. who was stationed in Arlington, Virginia in the Army. They married on December 1, 1961, at the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. and after Joe completed his service, moved to his home of Georgetown.
Connie worked as a receptionist at two local medical offices, but found her life's passion caring for children, first in her home and later as owner/operator of Punkin Shell Preschool and Nursery for almost 15 years. In her younger years Connie enjoyed fishing, tennis, and crafting. She was also a talented watercolorist.
Connie was a member of Screven Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class.
Along with her loving husband of 62 years, she leaves behind two daughters, Jacqueline Turbeville (Glenn) and Lisa Walsh (Michael); grandchildren, Carol Hudson, Dr. Jackson Turbeville, Glenn Elisabeth Turbeville (Ryan), Anna Maguire (Cameron), Adam Turbeville, Patrick Walsh, and Clint Turbeville; great-grandchildren, Darcy Edwards, Raleigh Kunsch, Gabriel Kunsch, Lila Maguire, Genevieve "Gen" Walsh Franco, Cam Maguire, and Duncan Kunsch; sisters, Diana Morde and Patty Baisden; special cousins, Robbie Burke (Jeff) and John Smith (Debbie); and a number of nieces and nephews.
Connie was preceded in death by her identical twin sister, Bonnie, and her sister Mary Jane Langdon; brother, Charles Mason; and a nephew, Charles Neal.
Visitation will take place at Screven Baptist Church Friday, December 29th at 10:00 am, with the service to follow at 11:00 am. The burial will be private.
The family would like to thank Traditions Hospice and Heartful Hearts In Home Care for their unmatched support and care.
Memorials may be made to Screven Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
