Georgetown:
David Peter Bruce went to live with the Lord on January 26, 2012 at the age of 76.
He was a long time resident of Darien, Connecticut and retired to DeBordieu. He fought a long and courageous battle with angiosarcoma a very rare form of cancer. He was the son of the late Helen Peter Bruce and William Giles Bruce. He was born in New Rochelle, New York and graduated from New Rochelle High School. He majored in textile engineering at North Carolina State. He served in the United State Navy and was aboard both the USS Wasp and USS Saratoga and played on the all Navy golf team. Mr. Bruce worked in the apparel industry for his entire career. His positions included director of sales and marketing for a division of VF Corporation, President of SKYR Sportswear, a division of Scandia Trading Company and President of Tanner Wholesale. He was an accomplished amateur golfer who won many tournaments both regionally and at the golf courses that he belonged to. In 2006, he won the Carolinas Golf Association Super Senior Championship. Mr. Bruce was a member of Pawleys Island Community Church.
Mr. Bruce is survived by: his wife, Marilyn Meding Bruce; his two sons, Jeffrey David Bruce of Richmond, Virginia and Kent David Bruce and his wife Renee of Seattle, WA; and his three grandchildren, Jordan, Landen and Reagan. Mr. Bruce is also survived by: his brother, William G. Bruce and his wife Elizabeth of Lake Placid, New York.
Memorial services will be held at 3pm on Thursday, February 2nd, 2012 at Pawleys Island Community Church.
