Mrs. Deborah Benford Freeman, 69, widow of Phillip Stephen "Poppy" Freeman, completed her life's journey on Sunday, April 09, 2023, doing it her way, at her residence in Andrews, SC.
Mrs. Freeman was born in Georgetown County on August 11, 1953, a daughter of the late James Andrew Benford Sr. and Mary Catherine Butler. Debbie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially being a Nanny to her grandchildren. Debbie's constant companion was her beloved 15 year old Chihuahua, named Shiloh. Debbie spent most of her life dedicated to taking care of others. She always put the needs of others before herself. Debbie loved feeding and taking care of her family and friends, and had a love for red birds. She was a member of Pine Crest Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday School Secretary and was active on the kitchen committee.
Mrs. Freeman was predeceased by her husband; two brothers, Andy Benford and Jerry Cullop; a sister, Joanna Cullop; and two granddaughters, Olivia and Reba Alford.
Surviving are her children; Johnny Alford (Iris) of Georgetown, Maryanne Lambert (Jonathan) of Yulee, Florida and Sean Freeman (Christine) of Awendaw; three sisters, Karen McConnell (Gerry) of Andrews, Bernice Marion (Dave) of Elderburg, MD and, Jeanie Watkins (Thomas) of Mt. Airy, MD; two brothers, Scott Benford (Della) of Hagerstown, MD and Jay Cullop of Mt. Airy, MD; three sisters-in-law, Gwen F. Nauert of Andrews, Linda F. Mercer of Pawleys Island and Karen W. Benford of Andrews; three brothers-in-law, Robin Freeman (Judy) of Summerville, Mickey Freeman (Kay) of Emmett, AR, Timmy Freeman (Glema) of Andrews; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn Perritt (Gage) and Heylee Alford of Georgetown, Gus Lambert and Sully Lambert of Yulee, FL; one great grandchild, Tara Perritt; and a number of nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her dearest lifelong friend, Mrs. Mary H. Alford, whom she loved as her own mother.
The Memorial Service will be at Pine Crest Baptist Church on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 3 pm. Officiating will be the Rev. Jack Mobley. Burial will follow at 4:30pm at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens in Georgetown.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Pine Crest Baptist Church from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Thursday, April 13, 2023.
