Debra Ellen Young, 73, of Georgetown, SC, passed away peacefully at her home on November 19, 2025.

Born on March 14, 1953, in Andrews, SC, she was the daughter of the late Harry Lavine Crooks and the late Beaulah Ann Carter Crooks.

Debra was a devoted mother, grandmother, and caregiver whose life was defined by love and service to her family and community. She spent many years caring for children through her home day care, where countless families entrusted their little ones to her gentle, dependable care. Her home was a place of warmth, patience, and unwavering kindness. Debra also enjoyed the quiet pleasures of reading and spending time with loved ones over a game of Yahtzee.

She was married to John Earl Young, Sr. for more than 30 years, and from that marriage they welcomed three children who will forever cherish her memory: Christine Young, Angela Young, and John Earl Young, Jr. She had a deep and abiding love for her grandchildren, Hailey Renee' Barnhill and Tracy Glisson (Bridget). Debra is also survived by two siblings, Margaret Thomas (Jerry) and Paul Crooks (Kathe), along with many nieces and nephews whom she held close to her heart.

Friends and family who wish to visit are welcome at the home of her daughter, Angela Young.

A memorial service will be held at the Maryville Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 5:00 P.M.
