Conway:
Dennis "Denny" Jeffrey Simmons, 41, died Saturday, November 6, 2004, at the Medical University of S. C. Hospital in Charleston.
Mr. Simmons was born in Georgetown on February 15, 1963, a son of William Lee Simmons, Jr. and Martha Gaynell Vernon Simmons. He grew up in Georgetown, graduated from Winyah High School, and attended Horry–Georgetown Technical College. Mr. Simmons was a retired employee of AVX Corp. in Myrtle Beach. He was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and Myrtle Beach Moose Lodge #1959. Mr. Simmons had lived in Conway for the past six years.
Surviving in addition to his parents of Myrtle Beach, are: his wife, Sharon Jean Oliver Simmons of Conway; two daughters, Christen Elizabeth Simmons and Miranda Nicole Skipper, both of Conway; a brother, Rev. Benjamin P. Simmons of Heath Springs; a sister, Julie S. Baxley of Conway; maternal grandmother, Martha Lynn White of West Memphis, Ark.; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 9, 2004, at one o'clock in Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church in Georgetown. Officiating will be the Rev. Phillip C. Thrailkill and the Rev. Benjamin P. Simmons. Burial will follow in Price Cemetery in Horry Co. near Conway.
The family will receive friends at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home Monday evening, November 8, 2004, from seven until nine.
