Obituary

Murrells Inlet: Desmond Henry, 78, died Thursday, February 7, 2008, at Georgetown Healthcare and Rehab. Mr. Henry was born in Dublin, Ireland on February 13, 1929, a son of the late John Alexander Mackinnon Henry and Jane Gertrude Healy Henry. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Henry lived in Murrells Inlet for a number of years, where he was a renowned diesel engine mechanic. After a career with R. H. Moore & Co., he worked on most, if not all, of the commercial fishing boats in the Inlet. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #10420 in Murrells Inlet. Survivors include: a brother, Noel Henry of Wicklaw, Ireland. Memorial services will be six-thirty o'clock Monday evening, February 11, 2008, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
