IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dexter Lee
Alexander
November 5, 1941 – March 8, 2024
Dexter Lee Alexander, 1941--2024
Dexter Lee Alexander, a man known for his love of life, fishing, and automotive mechanics passed away March 8, 2024 at age 82 as the result of an accident.
Dexter was born November 5, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio. He married Sylvia Jean Rohr January 1, 1961. He and Sylvia did everything together, sharing their love of gardening, camping, fishing, and boating on lakes Coeur d'Alene, Twin, and Pend Oreille in Northern Idaho. On May 10, 1965, their daughter, Michelle was born. The family settled in Rathdrum Idaho where Dexter had a job with Ponsness/Warren. He was extremely industrious and became an expert precision machinist, working for them most of his life.
After his retirement in 2003, he and Sylvia moved to Lapwai, Idaho and built a home on 5 acres. Both Dexter and Sylvia's love of gardening soon had trees, an orchard and vegetable gardens planted, turning their property into a haven.
Dexter stayed active all his life. He was adventuresome and fearless and was still riding motorcycles—a Honda/Valkerie—at 81 years. His love of cars and gift for understanding and repairing them, continued as well—a legacy he passed to his grandsons, Andrew and Marcus.
After the death of his wife of 60 years on November 12, 2021, Dexter moved to South Carolina to live with his sister, Jo Johnson. Shortly after arriving in Andrews, he met Patricia Blakely. He spent his last year of life living loved, with Patricia. He also really enjoyed her family and how they embraced him as one of their own.
He is survived by his daughter Michelle (Aric) Frostenson, grandchildren, Andrew (Courtney), Kathryn, and Marcus, and by his sister Jo Johnson. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters.
His loss will be deeply felt by his family and his community of friends in Rathdrum, Idaho, Lapwai, Idaho and Andrews, South Carolina.
There will be a celebration of life at 11:00 AM Friday, March 15, 2024 at the Bethel Church of Andrews, 5140 Kent Road, Andrews, SC.
The Andrews Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home and Crematory is handling all arrangements.
