Doddie Wayne Elliott, Sr., 77, known by his friends as Wayne Elliott, passed away peacefully at Sandpiper Post Acute Care in Mount Pleasant, SC, on April 21, 2024. Born on August 24, 1946, in Georgetown, SC, to the late Doddie Wasdon Elliott and Pauline Harriett Howard Elliott, he lived a life full of service and craftsmanship.

During his final days, Wayne was comforted by the presence of his grandchildren, Chelsey and Jaycen, who were with him in the days and hours leading up to his peaceful passing.

Wayne is survived by his daughter, Glenda Marie Turpin; his grandchildren, Chelsey Ann Deforrest (Joshua), Jaycen Wayne Elliott, and Ralph James Willey; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wives, Glenda Louise Taylor, the mother of his children, and Debbie Elliott, as well as his stepson, Chris Driggers (Denise). His siblings, Paul "Tykie" Howard, Alvin Elliott (Jennie Lee), Melvin "Dooley" Elliott (Teresa), Teresa L. Smith (Joe), and Patricia A. Moorefield, cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Doddie Wayne Elliott Jr., and his siblings, Marilyn Elliott Roy, Glenn E. Elliott, and Michael L. Elliott.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, Wayne served honorably during the Vietnam War before embarking on a successful career as a brick mason. After his military service, he worked at Gulf Stream Construction for many years. Later, he co-founded Elliott's Masonry with his brother Alvin, where he continued to hone his craft until his retirement. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to gather at the graveside one hour prior to the service for visitation. A reception will follow at Sampit Pentecostal Holiness Church.
