Mason, Ohio: Donald Beverly Armstrong, Jr. passed away suddenly Thursday, November 26, 2009. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Donald B. and Lucille Armstrong; Mr. Armstrong was a devoted husband of Karen Pryor Armstrong; cherished father of Russell Moore Armstrong and Donald Reid Armstrong; and loving brother of Karin (Sambo) Harper and Sheila (Jimmy) Hutto; doting uncle of Stephen Harper, Phillip Harper, Megan Hutto, Myles Hutto, Connor Hutto and Lucy Hutto; and dear great uncle of Carlynn Harper, Hollis Harper, Sloan Harper, Caleb Harper, Emma Harper and Benjamin Harper. He was a tremendous friend of many and a proud 1973 graduate of The Citadel and served his country proudly as a captain in the Unites States Army Reserve. Donnie was a well respected colleague at International Paper for 37 years. He loved being around water either fishing or sailing. He loved his family dearly and was a supreme handyman and known as "Mr. Fixit" by many people. His family will receive friends at Shorten & Ryan Funeral Home in Mason, Ohio on Tuesday, December 1, 2009, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, December 3, 2009, at St. Paul's Waccamaw United Methodist Church at Pawleys Island, S. C. His family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm. The Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
