Georgetown:
Donald Wayne Ward, 79, died Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Ward was born in Kingstree on December 3, 1939, a son of the late Cornelius "Ned" Ward and Annie Sue Howard Ward. He grew up in Georgetown and attended Winyah High School. Mr. Ward was a retired employee of International Paper Company and a member of the Church of Christ. He loved car and go-cart racing. He enjoyed fishing and fished in a number of bass tournaments. Mr. Ward was an avid Clemson Football fan and served in the South Carolina Army National Guard. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Mr. Ward was predeceased by: two daughters, Melissa J Sims and Sherrie Crawford; and a brother Kent Ward.
Surviving are: his wife, Barbara Suggs Ward of Georgetown; two sons, Michael Wayne Ward, Sr. (Jana) of Moncks Corner and John Mitchell Jones (Molly) of Georgetown; a daughter, Donna Ward Mauney (Tim) of Pawleys Island; a sister, Emily Inman (Julius) of Georgetown; a sister-in-law, Elaine Ward of Georgetown; twelve grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be two o'clock Saturday afternoon, October 19, 2019, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ted A. Sherrill. The family will receive friends at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home prior to the service on Saturday from one until two.
