Georgetown: Donald Wayne Ward, 79, died Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mr. Ward was born in Kingstree on December 3, 1939, a son of the late Cornelius "Ned" Ward and Annie Sue Howard Ward. He grew up in Georgetown and attended Winyah High School. Mr. Ward was a retired employee of International Paper Company and a member of the Church of Christ. He loved car and go-cart racing. He enjoyed fishing and fished in a number of bass tournaments. Mr. Ward was an avid Clemson Football fan and served in the South Carolina Army National Guard. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Mr. Ward was predeceased by: two daughters, Melissa J Sims and Sherrie Crawford; and a brother Kent Ward. Surviving are: his wife, Barbara Suggs Ward of Georgetown; two sons, Michael Wayne Ward, Sr. (Jana) of Moncks Corner and John Mitchell Jones (Molly) of Georgetown; a daughter, Donna Ward Mauney (Tim) of Pawleys Island; a sister, Emily Inman (Julius) of Georgetown; a sister-in-law, Elaine Ward of Georgetown; twelve grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be two o'clock Saturday afternoon, October 19, 2019, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ted A. Sherrill.
